Activities

When staying at our hotel, there are many ways of making the most out of your vacation and of being active.

Walking tours, ranging from small walks to long hikes, can be either with a guide or organized just by yourself. Many of the blazed trails through the wonderful Harz area start right on the edge of the woods behind our hotel.

Power-Walking and Running: different types of trails through forests and fields are waiting for you here. The surroundings of Bad Grund offer all kinds of topography, from flat stretches to steep hills, and they are suitable for athletic training at all performance levels.

Mountain-Biking: well-marked trails to the nicest places in the western Harz start right at the hotel.

E-Biking: we also have the perfect suggestion for biking fans who would like to take it a little easier: the electric bicycle, which you can rent from our partners, will allow you to manage even the steepest slopes without any problem.

Cross-Country Skiing: When there is enough snow, the Kreuzbach slope—a part of the western Harz cross-country track network—opens at 10 a.m.. From the start at Taternplatz on motorway B242, you reach the Wildemann slope on Hasenberg Mountain after 2 km. You can also stop in at the Iberger Albertturm forest restaurant.

Nordic-Walking: Bad Grund is a great place for doing this. In May, there is the famous Blütenlauf (Flower Walk) on picturesque trails through flowering Rhododendron plantations and the exotic Weltwald (World Arboretum). In autumn, you will see this trail in its so-called “Indian Summer” beauty, which is normally only to be seen in the forests of North America. We offer sunrise tours for early birds, as well as the evening counterpart for those who are more active later in the day.

A Snowball Fight in the Summer: you can have one here! There has been one every Sunday in the summer for more than 100 years. On the Iberg mountain, 563 meters high, a snowman is made of real natural snow, whose sorry fate does not tarry: the executioner’s sword destroys it immediately and a lively snowball fight ensues—which children especially enjoy. Starting time is at 4 p.m.

Mini-Golf: the mini-golf facility is located just above the spa gardens—only about 600 meters from the hotel. It is open daily from 10 to 12 a.m. and from 2 to 7 p.m.

Fun Water Parks with extensive recreational facilities:

  • The Salztal-Paradies in Bad Sachsa - an adventure swimming pool, several saunas, a tanning shop, skating hall, bowling paradise and tennis hall.
  • Aqualand in Osterode: big adventure swimming complex with outdoor pools, different saunas, white-water ride, 85m-slide, etc.
